It’s not a stretch to say that Planned Parenthood’s tactics to force the Susan G. Komen Foundation to restore their funding were no less than a Mafia-style shakedown of a charity whose only purpose is to help prevent and treat breast cancer.
Penny Nance, CEO and president of the conservative Concerned Women for America, says Planned Parenthood bullied Komen with mob-like maneuvers tactics.




![While Komen was being lambasted, Planned Parenthood received a flood of support, raising a staggering $3 million in donations in three days—more than four times as much as it got from Komen last year. “We haven’t been able to take all the calls of people who wanted to support us,” Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards said on a conference call. “I’ve been doing this kind of work for a long, long time, and I’ve never seen anything catch fire like [this].”

After the Komen Foundation kicked off a controversy by withdrawing its funding from Planned Parenthood, Michael Bloomberg has announced that he’ll be donating up to $250,000 towards breast cancer screenings.
Mayor Mike aside, it’s not taken much time for Planned Parenthood to make up for the $700,000 that the Komen Foundation won’t be giving them. ”In the 24 hours since Komen announced its decision, Planned Parenthood has gotten $650,000 in donations, nearly enough to offset the losses from Komen’s funding,” says The Daily Beast.
